Imperial College Business School has made several new academic appointments for 2020-21. The new faculty members come from a variety of prestigious institutions and will fill positions at professor, associate professor and assistant professor levels. 

Chris Tucci

Christopher Tucci has joined the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship as Professor of Digital Strategy & Innovation. He was previously Professor of Management of Technology at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, where he held the Chair in Corporate Strategy & Innovation.

He received his PhD in Management from the Sloan School of Management and his main area of interest is in how firms make transitions to new business models, technologies, and organisational forms.

Before entering the world of academia, he was an industrial computer scientist involved in developing internet protocols and applying artificial intelligence tools.

Clara Martínez-Toledano will join the Department of Finance in January 2021 as Assistant Professor of Finance. She received her PhD from the Paris School of Economics and is currently a postdoctoral scholar at Columbia Business School and Wealth Distribution Coordinator at the World Inequality Lab.

Her research lies at the intersection of household and public finance, with a particular focus on housing, taxation and inequality.

Mike Yeomans has joined the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship as Assistant Professor in Strategy & Organisational Behaviour. Before joining the School, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Business School.

His research focuses on exploring how natural language processing can be used to study decision-making in conversation.

Mushegh Harutyunyan has joined the Department of Analytics, Marketing & Operations as Assistant Professor of Marketing. He previously held the same position at Nazarbayev University GSB in Kazakhstan and was hosted by Fuqua School of Business at Duke University as a visiting scholar. 

Mushegh’s research employs quantitative models to explore firms’ strategic decisions with respect to pricing, product design, new product introduction, and distribution channels. He obtained his PhD from Washington University in 2017.

Stephan Seiler_new academic

Stephan Seiler has joined the Department of Analytics, Marketing & Operations as Associate Professor of Marketing. Previously, he was on the faculty at Stanford and UCLA.

His research focuses on understanding consumer choice in various markets and how it is influenced by pricing, advertising and customer word-of-mouth. He is particularly interested in understanding how consumers gather information before making a purchase and how consumer search behaviour can give us insights into their preferences and help firms better tailor their marketing activity.

Xiaocheng Li_new academic

Xiaocheng Li will join the School as an Assistant Professor of Analytics, Marketing & Operations in the Department of Analytics, Marketing & Operations in January 2021. He is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Management Science & Engineering at Stanford.

His primary research interests are linear optimisation, online algorithms and big data analytics in operations management.

The School has also welcomed two visiting academics.

Olenka Kacperczyk has joined the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship as Visiting Associate Professor. Her research covers entrepreneurship, innovation, social responsibility and mobility and labour markets. She has written papers on entrepreneurship versus intrapreneurship, the impact of stakeholder orientation on innovation and how trade secrets affect a firm’s value.

Jim Goldman has been appointed Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance. His fields of research are financial economics and corporate finance. He is an Assistant Professor of Financial Economics at the University of Toronto and he was awarded a PhD in Finance from INSEAD.
